Detectives Investigate Burtonsville Shooting As Homicide

Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) - Major Crimes detectives are investigating the Wednesday, September 6 homicide of Todd Mcdonough Pruitt, age 63, of the 14000 block of Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville.

On September 6 at approximately 9:00 p.m., an adult male entered the lobby of the MCPD 3rd District Police Station (located at 1002 Milestone Drive in Silver Spring) suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.  Officers began to administer first aid and called for Fire & Rescue services to respond to the police station.  The shooting victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.



The investigation led officers to a recreational vehicle (RV) in the 14000 block of Old Columbia Pike.  In the RV, officers located a deceased male, identified as Pruitt, with gunshot wounds.  The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy was performed.  The Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide.

The other adult male shooting victim remains in critical condition at the hospital.  Detectives believe that this shooting and homicide is not a stranger-based event and that there is no threat to public safety related to this event.  The circumstances surrounding this shooting and homicide remain under investigation and no additional details will be released at this time.  Anyone with information about this shooting and homicide is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
