Police Foundation Donates Backpacks for “Back to School” Event

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, September 12, 2017

Recently, 3rd District Community Services Officer Glenda Joseph and officers from the MCP Community Engagement Division participated in the “Back to School Supply Drive” event held at the Silver Spring Civic Center located at One Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring.  MCP officers distributed approximately 200 backpacks to middle school-aged children.  The backpacks, which contained school supplies such as notebooks, folders, pens, and pencils, were donated by the Montgomery County Police Foundation.

The Montgomery County Police Foundation is a private, non-profit organization comprised of private business owners and residents, whose mission is to support and provide resources to the Montgomery County Police Department.

The Montgomery County Police Foundation assists with one-time purchases of items that are needed by MCP and that are not included in the County’s police budget.  Through the years, the police foundation has provided funding to MCP for training, facilities, and equipment.

We thank the Montgomery County Police Foundation and its partners for their contributions toward public safety.
