Concern For Missing Bethesda Man; Silver Alert Initiated

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, October 25, 2017

UPDATE:  Won Soo Yim has been located safe and unharmed.  Police and family thank the media and residents for their assistance in publicizing this case.

Detectives from the 2nd District Investigative Section are asking the public for assistance in locating a missing Bethesda man.

Won Soo Yim, 80 years old, left his Westlake Drive residence on Wednesday, October 25 at approximately 4:20 p.m.  He was operating a black 2012 Nissan Sentra with Maryland tags, 7DA5239.  He has not been in contact with caretakers since that time.  The Maryland State Police have initiated a Silver Alert for Yim.

Won Soo Yim is described as an Asian male who is 5' 2" tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds.  He has brown eyes and is partially balding with gray hair.  At the time of his disappearance he was wearing a blue striped shirt, black jacket, and black shoes.

In a similar incident earlier this year, Yim was located in Fairfax County.  Police and family are concerned for Yim's welfare.  Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Won Soo Yim is urged to call 9-1-1.
