For Immediate Release: Friday, November 17, 2017

Detectives from the 6th District Investigative Section are investigating two incidents of a firearm being discharged outside a church at 7401 Muncaster Mill Road.  No one was injured in these events.

On the evening of Wednesday, November 15, a parishioner of the New Life Seventh Day Adventist Church called police after he was attending a service at the church and noticed a bullet hole in a window frame near the front entrance.  Police responded and a bullet fragment was recovered from the frame.  Church representatives are unsure of when this firearm discharge may have occurred.

On Thursday, November 16 at approximately 11:13 p.m., 6th District officers responded to the area of the church for the report of sounds of multiple gunshots.  The church had sustained damage from apparent gunfire and officers recovered bullet fragments at the scene.  Officers also located and recovered multiple shell casings on Muncaster Mill Road near the church.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call the 6th District Investigative Section at 240-773-5770.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this crime.  Tipsters may remain anonymous.
