Silver Alert Issued for Missing Silver Spring Man

UPDATE: 11/25/17 at approximately 1:17 a.m. - Wilfred Lancelot Heyliger has been located and is being reunited with family. The Silver Alert has been cancelled.

The Montgomery County Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing Silver Spring man.  A Silver Alert has been activated for 69-year-old Wilfred Lancelot Heyliger, who goes by the name "Derek", of the 10400 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring.  Mr. Heyliger has dementia.



Mr. Heyliger left the Westfield Wheaton Mall located at 11160 Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton this afternoon at approximately 1:45 p.m in a silver, 2003 Toyota 4Runner with Maryland tag: 155M823.

Mr. Heyliger is described as an African American male who is approximately 6'0" tall, weighs approximately 190 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair.  He was last seen wearing a navy blue Nike jumpsuit, black sneakers, and a Dallas Cowboys baseball hat.

Anyone with information regarding Wilfred "Derek" Heyliger's whereabouts or anyone who sees his vehicle is asked to call 9-1-1.
