Rockville Pedestrian Fatality Investigated

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) - Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Wednesday, December 13, in Rockville.

At approximately 11:22 p.m., MCPD officers from the 1st District, Rockville City police officers, and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to Rockville Pike and Church Street for the report of a pedestrian involved personal injury collision.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a silver 2017 Nissan Armada was traveling northbound on Rockville Pike, when for reasons that are still under investigation, struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing westbound Rockville Pike at Church Street.  The pedestrian was transported to Suburban Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Nissan was not injured.

The pedestrian's identity will be released once family has been notified.  The driver of the Nissan Armada is being identified as Cupertino Unda, 83 years old, of Country Ridge Drive in Germantown.
