Silver Spring Deaths Investigated as a Murder-Suicide

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division are investigating two deaths that occurred yesterday evening in Silver Spring as a murder-suicide.

On Wednesday, December 13 at approximately 8:45 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to a home in the 1400 block of Fenwick Lane for the report of an assault that had just occurred.

Upon entering the home, first responders located the suspect, identified as Garvey Dyer, age 61, of the 4700 block of Bethesda Avenue in Bethesda, deceased in the residence from an apparent gunshot wound.  Officers further located the victim, Rose Dyer, age 88, of the Fenwick Lane address, deceased in the home from an apparent gunshot wound.

The investigation by detectives determined that Garvey Dyer was Rose Dyer’s son.  Family had contacted police after learning that Garvey Dyer had gone to his mother's home.
