Holiday Alcohol Task Force – Week 7

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, January 2, 2018

The officers of the Montgomery County Police Alcohol Holiday Task Force have been devoting their full time and attention to detecting alcohol-related offenses this holiday season.

  • During this past week’s Task Force (December 27 to December 30), task force officers arrested 13 people for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs (DUI).
  • During the past 7 weeks of the Alcohol Holiday Task Force, task force officers have arrested 192 people for DUI.
  • On December 30 at approximately 2:45 a.m., a Holiday Alcohol Task Force officer was on patrol in the area of Goshen Road and Midcounty Highway in Montgomery Village when he observed a vehicle being driven without headlights. The officer observed the vehicle drive straight through the flashing red traffic signal at that intersection.  The officer attempted to stop the car but the driver did not stop and fled in the vehicle.  The driver lost control of the vehicle on Quail Valley Boulevard near Bluebird Terrace and struck a parked car.  The driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI), fleeing from the police, driving without a license, and additional traffic-related offenses.  Officers further determined that the driver had an open arrest warrant through Pennsylvania for drug-related charges.
It should be noted that the above arrests include only those arrests made by task force officers and do not include the additional arrests made by patrol officers in the performance of their duties.  Therefore, the number of total DUI arrests made by MCP officers during this time period is higher.
