Detectives Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Rockville Theft Suspects; Surveillance Video and Photographs Released

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, January 17, 2018

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 4th District Patrol Investigations Unit are investigating the theft of credit cards and a checkbook from an unlocked vehicle that occurred during the overnight hours of December 11 into December 12.  Today, investigators are releasing surveillance video and photographs of the two suspects and are asking for the public’s help to identify them.

On the evening of December 11, the victim parked her car at a residence in the 4200 block of Flower Valley Drive in Rockville. At approximately 7:00 a.m. on December 12, the victim returned to her vehicle to find that it had been ransacked and items, to include a credit card, had been stolen. Investigation by detectives determined that two suspects used that stolen credit card at a 7-Eleven on Professional Drive in Gaithersburg at approximately 4:30 a.m. on December 12; the suspects were captured on store video surveillance.

Detectives are looking into the possibility the suspects may be involved in other theft from autos in the area.

Anyone with information regarding these suspects is asked to call the 4th District Patrol Investigations Unit at 240-773-5500. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided that leads to an arrest in this case.

Thefts from unlocked vehicles continue to be a high-volume crime in Montgomery County. The Police Department urges all residents to take a role in preventing this type of crime by removing valuables from vehicles and locking all doors.
