Detectives Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Rockville Attempted Theft Suspect; Surveillance Photograph Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 1st District Investigative Section continue to investigate a January 30 attempted purse snatching that occurred in Rockville.  Today, investigators are releasing a surveillance photograph of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help to identify him.

On January 30 at approximately 11:15 a.m., 1st District officers responded for the report of the attempted purse snatching that occurred near the intersection of Twinbrook Parkway and Alderbrook Court.  The adult female victim stated that she was sitting at the bus stop holding her purse when she noticed the suspect, who was riding a bicycle, approaching her.   As the suspect rode his bike past the victim, he grabbed the victim’s purse strap and attempted to steal the purse.  The victim maintained a hold on her purse as the suspect pushed her to the ground.  The suspect then rode away on his bike without the purse and was last seen toward Veirs Mill Road.   The victim suffered minor injuries when she was pushed to the ground and refused medical treatment.
