Rockville Fatal Collision Investigated

Detectives with the Montgomery County Police Department - Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred Thursday, March 15 on Norbeck Road in Rockville.

At approximately 8:02 p.m., officers from the 1st District and the Rockville City Police Department, as well as Fire and Rescue personnel, responded for the report of a serious collision on Norbeck Road at Avery Road.

Preliminary investigation has indicated that a Ride On bus was stopped on eastbound Norbeck Road when the driver of a Honda Element struck the rear of the bus.  The driver of the Honda was transported to Suburban Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  He has been identified as Durmus Kantar, 49 years old, of the 5200 block of Russett Road in Rockville.  The driver of the bus and three passengers were injured and transported to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening inuries. They have been identified as the following:

Rosa Maria Rodriguez, Ride On bus driver, 57 years old, of Singing Pine Circle in Montgomery County Village.  She was transported to Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center.

Monique Ayonah Williams, 24 years old, of the 3500 block of Pear Tree Court in the Bel Pre area.  She was transported to Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center.

Avelyn Guinano, 48 years old, of the 1200 block of Caldwell Street in Rockville.  She was transported to MedStar Montgomery Medical Center (formerly Montgomery General Hospital).

He Jin Ou, 56 years old, of the 2100 block of Lewis Avenue in Rockville.  She was transported to MedStar Montgomery Medical Center (formerly Montgomery General Hospital).
