Detectives Investigate Attempted Armed Robbery of Gas Station in Piney Branch Area; Surveillance Photograph Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the February 14 attempted armed robbery of an Exxon gas station in the Piney Branch area.  Today, investigators are releasing a surveillance photograph of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

On February 14 at approximately 4:38 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the Exxon gas station located at 701 University Boulevard East for the report of an attempted armed robbery that had just occurred.

The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the gas station armed with a handgun and confronted an adult employee who was working behind the counter.  The suspect threatened the employee and demanded money from the register.  The suspect fled from the gas station without obtaining any currency and was last seen on foot toward Gilbert Street.
