Update: Germantown Attempt Kidnapping Flyer Distributed

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, April 10, 2018

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Special Victims Investigations Division continue to investigate the April 6 attempted kidnapping of a 14-year-old female that occurred in Germantown.  Today, investigators spoke with residents in surrounding neighborhoods where the attempted kidnapping occurred.  They also distributed flyers which contained a computer-generated likeness of the suspect.

On April 6, a 14-year-old female reported that she was walking north on Mateny Road near Clopper Road when she was approached by the suspect who was in a white vehicle, possibly a smaller SUV.  The suspect asked the victim if she needed a ride.  When the victim declined the offer, the suspect exited his vehicle and grabbed the victim by her arm.   The victim freed herself from the suspect’s grasp and ran home where she told her parents who then called police.

After releasing information to the media and public regarding the attempted kidnapping, the family of a 16-year-old female contacted police to report that this same suspect had approached the teenager on two separate occasions asking her if she needed a ride.

Detectives have also confirmed that the first incident involving this 16-year-old female occurred at a bus stop in the 18300 block of Leaman Farm Road at approximately 3:20 p.m. on February 16.  The second incident involving this female occurred approximately two weeks later when she was walking from her residence to the 7-Eleven located at Clopper Road and Mateny Road at approximately 9:00 a.m. on an unknown date in March.

Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or who may have information about these events to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5404.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to their line that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this crime.
