Detectives Investigate Serious Collision Involving Motorcycle

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a serious collision involving a motorcyclist that occurred this morning.

At approximately 10:46 a.m., 4th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to Veirs Mill Road at Robindale Drive for the report of a collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle.

Preliminary investigation has indicated that the operator of a 2012 Honda CBR 600 RR motorcycle was traveling west on Veirs Mill Road.  The driver of a 2003 Honda CRV, traveling east on Veirs Mill Road and was attempting to make a left turn onto Robindale Drive.  The motorcycle and vehicle collided in the intersection.  The motorcyclist, identified as James Christopher Davern, age 21, of Silverdale Drive in Silver Spring, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the CRV, identified as Whirley Calumba Saguban, age 66, of Robindale Drive in Rockville, was not injured in the collision.
