Detectives Investigate Attempted Bank Robbery in Colesville; Surveillance Photograph Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the May 3 bank robbery that occurred at a BB&T Bank in Colesville.  Today, detectives are releasing a surveillance photograph of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

On Thursday, May 3 at approximately 11:55 a.m., 4th District officers responded to the BB&T Bank located at 13350 New Hampshire Avenue for the report of a bank robbery.  The investigation by detectives revealed that the suspect entered the bank and displayed a note that demanded money to the teller.  The teller immediately called 9-1-1 which caused the suspect to flee from the bank without obtaining any currency.

Anyone with information about the suspect or this bank robbery is asked to contact the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100.  To be eligible for a reward, tipsters may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of this suspect.  Tipsters will remain anonymous.
