Germantown Shooting Investigated

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, May 16, 2018

Detectives with the 5th District Investigative Section are investigating a shooting that occurred near the intersection of Sage Way and Cinnamon Drive in Germantown.

On Tuesday, May 15, at approximately 8:13 p.m., 5th District officers responded to Sage Way and Cinnamon Drive for the report of an assault that had just occurred. Additional calls were received for the sound of shots.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that shortly after the initial series of calls, another call was received relating to a 21-year-old male shooting victim arriving at the Germantown Emergency Center located at 19731 Germantown Road.  It is believed he was driven there by an acquaintance from the Sage Way scene.  Medical staff there had the victim transported by ambulance to a local trauma center where he remains in serious condition.

Officers from the 5th District were aware of a vigil being held in the area where the shooting occurred.  Detectives interviewed witnesses and are working to determine if the shooting may be related to the vigil.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting or the suspect(s) involved is urged to contact investigators in the Germantown Investigative Section at 240.773.6237.  To be eligible for a reward, tipsters may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or enter a tip online.  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment of the suspects.  Tipsters will remain anonymous.
