For Immediate Release: Friday, June 1, 2018

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 4th District Investigative Section have charged an 11-year-old male with charges related to a telephone threat that was made against the Parkland Middle School community this afternoon.

On Friday, June 1 at approximately 12:34 p.m., 4th District officers responded to Parkland Middle School located at 4610 West Frankfort Drive in Rockville for the report of a telephone threat that had been received by the school.  A school faculty member reported to police that the suspect had called the school and made a general threat against Parkland Middle School students.

As a result of the investigation, detectives determined that an 11-year-old male, who is not a Parkland student, had made the threat.  That juvenile was charged with one count of disrupting school activities and one count of making a threat of mass violence.  After being charged, the juvenile was returned to the care and custody of his parents.  This case has been referred to the Department of Juvenile Services for adjudication.
