Fatal Pedestrian Crash Investigated in Rockville

Detectives with the Montgomery County Police Department - Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred in Rockville last night.

On Saturday, June 2, at approximately 9:51 p.m., 1st District officers, Rockville City police officers, and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to 502 Hungerford Drive for a collision that involved a pedestrian.  First responders located the pedestrian and he was transported to Suburban Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the adult male pedestrian was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Hungerford Drive, when for reasons still under investigation, he was struck by a Lexus 350 driven by Shihping Shih, 66 years old, of Autumn Wind Way in Rockville.  Shih remained on the scene.  Neither he of his adult female passenger were injured.

The identity of the pedestrian will be released once family has been notified.
