Detectives Release Surveillance Video of Suspect Vandalizing Police Cruiser; Ask for Public’s Help to Identify

For Immediate Release: Thursday, June 7, 2018

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 6th District Investigative Section are investigating the vandalism of a marked, Montgomery County Police Department patrol vehicle.  The vandalism occurred yesterday in the 9800 block of Mahogany Drive in Gaithersburg.  Investigators are releasing surveillance video of the male suspect vandalizing the cruiser and are asking for the public’s help to identify him.

On Wednesday, June 6, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center (911) received a call from someone who reported that he/she was video recording a suspect who was standing on the hood of an unoccupied Montgomery County Police vehicle and was using an object to break through the front windshield of the car.  The suspect fled prior to officers arriving to the area.

The investigation by officers determined that the suspect used a rock to break the front windshield of the patrol vehicle.  The suspect then removed the rear-view mirror from the interior of the car and put it on the roof of the vehicle before fleeing.

Anyone with information regarding this vandalism and/or the suspect is asked to call the 6th District Investigative Section at 240-773-5770.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case.
