Police Ask for Public’s Help to Identify Theft from Auto Suspect – Remind Residents to Lock Vehicle Doors

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 4th District Patrol Investigations Unit are investigating two thefts from vehicles that were in close proximity to each other and that are believed to have been committed by the same suspect.  Today, investigators are releasing surveillance video of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help to identify him.

The following thefts from vehicles were reported to police and are believed to have been committed by the same suspect:

  • During the overnight hours on May 27 in the 300 block of Scott Drive in the Colesville area. Property was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
  • May 28, at approximately 3:12 a.m., in the 13700 block of Stoner Drive in the Colesville area. Home surveillance video captured the suspect entering an unlocked vehicle.  No property was taken.
Anyone with information regarding this suspect is asked to call the 4th District Patrol Investigations Unit at 240-773-5500. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.

Thefts from unlocked vehicles continue to be a high-volume crime in Montgomery County. The Police Department urges all residents to take a role in preventing this type of crime by removing valuables from vehicles and locking all doors.
