Concern For Germantown Man, Silver Alert Initiated

Update 6/19/18: Charles Wesley Smith was located unharmed in Florida.

Detectives from the 5th District Investigative Sections are asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing Germantown man.  A Silver Alert has been initiated by the Maryland State Police.

Charles Wesley Smith, 72 years old, of the 13400 block of Demetrias Way, was last seen by family members on Friday, June 15 at 10:00 a.m.  He reportedly told family that he was going to drive to Florida.  Smith is described as a white male, 5' 8" tall, and weighing 160 pounds.  He has white hair.  He was last known to be wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.

Smith is believed to be driving a blue, 2018 Nissan Sentra with District of Columbia tags, R37358.  Investigators believe he is driving south and is believed to have been in the Emporia, Virginia area at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16.

Police and family are concerned for Smith's welfare.  Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Charles Smith is urged to dial 9-1-1.
