Detectives Investigate Commercial Armed Robbery in Gaithersburg; Surveillance Video Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the June 13 armed robbery of a pawn store in Gaithersburg.  Today, investigators are releasing surveillance video of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

On Wednesday, June 13 at approximately 6:58 p.m., 6th District officers responded to the First Cash Jewelry and Exchange pawn shop located at 117 North Frederick Avenue for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

The investigation by detectives revealed that the suspect (who was wearing a mask) entered the business, pointed a handgun at an adult male employee, and demanded cash from the business.   The employee complied with the suspects’ demands.  The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of currency from the business and fled on foot.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about this robbery is asked to call the Major Crimes Division; Robbery Section at 240-773-5100.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or an indictment for this crime.
