Update to June 11 Officer-Involved Shooting

For Immediate Release: Monday, June 25, 2018

Today, detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department - Major Crimes Division met with members of the Howard County State’s Attorney’s Office (HCSAO) as the HCSAO will be conducting an independent review of the Montgomery County Police officer-involved shooting that occurred on Monday, June 11.

During this meeting, Major Crimes detectives and HCSAO members discussed the information that detectives have gathered and provided thus far to the HCSAO.

The release of body-worn camera footage to the public was discussed during this meeting. The HCSAO requested that the Police Department not release the footage at this time as such release could potentially have an adverse impact upon the HCSAO investigation and any possible judicial proceedings.  This issue will be reviewed again as this process furthers.

The report detailing the victim’s autopsy findings are not complete at this time.

The Police Department will continue to communicate and coordinate with the HCSAO.  As additional information becomes available, it will be released to the public.
