Detectives Seek Public’s Help to Locate Missing Silver Spring Woman

UPDATE: July 13, 2018 (12:14 a.m.)  - Astrid Velis has been located safe and unharmed.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department - 3rd District Investigative Section are asking for the public's help in locating a missing Silver Spring woman.

Astrid Velis, age 24, of Pennydog Court, was last seen at her residence today at approximately 3:00 p.m. She is described as a Hispanic female, 5 feet 3 inches tall, and weighing 125 pounds. She has brown hair with blond highlights which she frequently wears in a ponytail and brown eyes.

Ms. Velis was last seen wearing blue jeans and a pink and purple shirt with the word "SMOOTH" written on the front.  She frequents the downtown areas of Wheaton and Silver Spring.

Ms. Velis functions at the level of an approximately ten-year-old, and police and family members are concerned for her welfare.
