Brothers Charged in Gaithersburg Hotel Room Home Invasion Robbery and Assault

For Immediate Release: Monday, July 16, 2018

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 6th District Investigative Section have charged brothers Sean M. Wilson, age 31, and Robert A. Wilson, age 33, both of the 300 block of Bryan Avenue in Gaithersburg, for home invasion robbery and assault-related charges after they assaulted two adult victims inside a Gaithersburg hotel room.  Investigators believe that the Wilson brothers had a prior association with both victims.

On Sunday, July 15 at approximately 11:28 a.m., 6th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the Extended Stay America hotel located at 201 Professional Drive for the report of a stabbing that had just occurred.  Responding officers located the adult male victim and the adult female victim in a hotel room suffering from non-life-threatening injuries that investigators determined were caused by a baseball bat and a knife.  The victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.  Officers additionally located Sean and Robert Wilson in a separate hotel room suffering from injuries that they had sustained in the assault. Sean and Robert Wilson were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, detectives determined that Sean and Robert Wilson, one of whom was armed with a baseball bat and the other armed with a knife, gained entry into the victims’ hotel room and attempted to rob them.  The Wilsons assaulted the male with the baseball bat and with the knife and assaulted the female with the bat.  A hotel employee who heard the assault contacted the police.

Sean and Robert Wilson were arrested after they were released from the hospital and charged with one count each of home invasion robbery, two counts each of first-degree assault, and two counts each of second-degree assault. Robert Wilson is currently being held without bond.  Sean Wilson was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
