Two Pedestrians Fatally Struck by Train in Germantown

Update: July 19, 2018: The victims are being identified as Daianne Peralta, age 25, of an unconfirmed address, and Cristina Segovia, age 30, of the unit block of West Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division are investigating the deaths of two adult females who were fatally struck by a train on Wednesday night in Germantown.

On Wednesday, July 18 at approximately 8:28 p.m., 5th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the report of pedestrians who had been struck by a CSX train on the railroad tracks in the area of Waring Station Road and Peach Crest Drive.

The initial investigation has revealed that the two females were in the area of the tracks when, for reasons still under investigation, they were struck by a westbound CSX train. They succumbed to their injuries at the scene.  The investigation also revealed that the train operator had observed the females and had sounded the train's horn and applied the train's brakes.

The victims' identities will be released once family notifications have been made.
