Animal Services Officers Investigate Animal Hoarding Case; 71 Animals Removed from North Potomac Townhouse

For Immediate Release: Friday, July 20, 2018

On Saturday, July 14 at approximately 1:56 p.m., officers with the Montgomery County Police Animal Services Division (ASD) were called to the 12000 block of Sweetbough Court in North Potomac to investigate an animal welfare complaint. Later that day, ASD officers began humanly removing animals from the home after the animals were surrendered by their owner. Initially 53 cats and one rabbit were removed.

Animal Services Officers are continuing their efforts to humanely trap and remove the remaining cats. As of today, July 20, 71 animals (70 cats and the one rabbit) have been removed from the home and are being cared for at the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Road in Derwood.

Because this matter is under investigation by the ASD, it is not appropriate to release additional details at this time. The ASD will update the community as soon as its investigation has concluded.
