Detectives Investigate Residential Burglary in Bethesda Area; Surveillance Photographs Released

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, August 7, 2018

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department -2nd District Investigative Section continue to investigate a July 19 residential burglary in the Bethesda area.  Today, detectives are releasing surveillance photographs of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

The investigation by detectives revealed that at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, an adult male victim who was at the Kennedy Shriver Aquatic Center located at 5900 Executive Boulevard in Rockville, had his wallet and house keys stolen from an unsecured area of a locker room.   At approximately 3:40 p.m. that afternoon, a family member returned to the victim’s Westlake Drive home and discovered that several items, to include jewelry, had been stolen from the home.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the victim’s apartment building and observed the suspect enter the victim’s building at approximately 3:15 p.m.  Detectives determined that the suspect used the victim’s stolen house key to enter the victim’s apartment.  Investigators also determined that the same suspect who was observed on the video entering the victim’s apartment building was also observed on surveillance video at the aquatic center during the same time period that victim had his wallet and house keys stolen.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about this burglary is asked to contact the 2nd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6710.    To be eligible for a reward, tipsters may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or enter a tip online.  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and /or indictment of the suspect.  Tipsters will remain anonymous.
