Detectives Investigate Attempted Commercial Robbery in Germantown; Surveillance Video Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department - Major Crimes Division continue to investigate an attempted commercial robbery that occurred on Saturday, August 11, at a Germantown grocery store. Today, investigators are releasing video surveillance of the attempted robbery and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the two female suspects.
On Saturday, August 11, at approximately 9:05 p.m., 5th District officers responded to the Shoppers grocery store located at 18066 Mateny Road for the report of an assault that had just occurred.
The investigation by detectives determined that the two suspects entered the grocery store, approached the 47-year-old female employee who was behind a counter, and demanded baby formula which was kept in a locked case. The two suspects assaulted the employee and then fled from the grocery store without obtaining any property. Fire and Rescue personnel responded and transported the employee to a local hospital for treatment of her non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about this attempted robbery or the suspects to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773- 5070.
