Detectives Investigate Commercial Burglary in Rockville; Surveillance Photographs of Suspects Released

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, September 4, 2018

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 2nd District Investigative Section continue to investigate the June 29 commercial burglary of a Rockville restaurant.  Property stolen during this burglary included several Maryland Lottery scratch-off tickets. Four suspects have been captured on video surveillance from various stores redeeming winning tickets that were stolen from the store.  Today, detectives are releasing surveillance photographs of the suspects and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.

On June 29 at approximately 9:30 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the Mike & Sons Sub Shop located at 5404 Randolph Road for the report of a commercial burglary that had just been discovered by an employee arriving to open the business.

The investigation by detectives determined that on June 29, sometime between midnight and 9:30 a.m., a suspect forced entry into the restaurant through the roof.  The suspect stole property, to include cash and Maryland Lottery scratch-off tickets.  The suspect fled from the business through a rear door.

Later that day, an African American male suspect and two white female suspects, cashed several of the stolen lottery tickets at two different 7-Elevens located in Silver Spring, a beer and wine store located in Wheaton, and at an Exxon gas station located in Wheaton.   On August 1, 2, and 4, suspects cashed in more of the stolen lottery tickets at various stores located in Montgomery County.  On August 10, a Hispanic female suspect attempted to claim some of the stolen lottery tickets at a 7-Eleven located in Adelphi, Maryland.  This last attempt to cash in the lottery tickets was declined by the store.

Anyone who recognizes the suspects or has information about this burglary is asked to contact the 2nd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6710.  To be eligible for a reward, tipsters may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or enter a tip online.
