Fatal Motorcycle Collision Investigated in Ashton

Detectives with the Montgomery County Police - Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred last night in Ashton.

On Saturday, October 13, at approximately 7:00 p.m., 4th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to a personal injury collision on Ashton Road (Route 108) between Ashland Drive and Tucker Road.  First responders located an adult male who had been operating a 1995 Harley Davidson motorcycle and an adult male driver and an adult female passenger of a Toyota RAV4 at the scene.  The three adults had been injured in a collision involving the vehicles.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Ashton Road while the Toyota was traveling westbound.  For reasons still under investigation, the two vehicles collided on a curve between Ashland Drive and Tucker Road.

The operator of the motorcycle was transported to Suburban hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  He is being identified as Gregory Viccharelli, 56 years old, of Astoria Lane in Ashton.

The driver of the Toyota is being identified as Jae Li Yang, 59 years old, of Deer Run in Laurel.  His passenger is being identified as  Ki Chan Chi, a 92-year-old female of Olney-Sandy Spring Road in Olney.  They were transported to MedStar Montgomery Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
