One Suspect Charged for Darnestown Home Invasion Robbery

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, November 7, 2018

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division have charged Sheraz Shoukat Shah, age 25, of the 28400 block of Kemptown Road in Damascus with home invasion robbery, and firearm-related offenses following an October 27 home invasion that occurred at a Darnestown residence.

On Saturday, October 27 at approximately 9:27 p.m., 1st District officers responded to a residence in the 14600 block of Seneca Road for the report of a home invasion robbery that had just occurred.

The investigation by detectives determined that four male suspects, who were wearing masks and one of whom was armed with a handgun, forced entry into the occupied home.  The suspects confronted the residents in the home and demanded property from the home. The suspect who was armed with the handgun assaulted an adult male resident by striking him in the head with the handgun.   The suspects obtained property from the home and from the residents and fled.

During the investigation, detectives developed Shah as the suspect who was armed with the handgun.  On November 7, Shah was arrested at his residence on the strength of an arrest warrant charging him with home invasion, armed robbery, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.   He is currently being held without bond.

Detectives continue to investigate this home invasion robbery and have reason to believe that this robbery was not a random event.
