Detectives Investigate Serious Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Collision in Derwood

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a personal injury hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in Derwood this evening.

On Sunday, November 18, 2018, at approximately 10:09 p.m., officers from the 5th District along with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to Muncaster Road in the area of Beechdale Court for a single-vehicle collision with an additional collision involving a pedestrian.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling southbound on Muncaster Road when it became involved in a single-vehicle collision on the side of the road.  One of the occupants of the Cobalt exited the vehicle and was struck by a dark-colored Ford Mustang.  The Mustang did not remain on the scene and fled in the direction of Gaithersburg.  Both occupants of the Cobalt were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The striking vehicle is described as a dark-colored Ford Mustang.  The Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating the striking vehicle.

The occupants of the Cobalt will be identified once the appropriate notifications are made.
