Detectives Conducting Death Investigation Following Bethesda House Fire

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division and Fire Explosive Investigators from the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services are conducting a death investigation following a house fire that occurred early this morning in Bethesda.

On Friday, November 21, at approximately 1:07 a.m., Fire and Rescue Services personnel and officers from the 2nd District responded to a house fire in the 4900 block of Western Avenue.

Fire and Rescue Services personnel located two individuals inside the residence and removed them from the house.  The two individuals were deceased on the scene.  It was determined there were no working smoke detectors in the house.

The decedents' bodies have been transported to Baltimore where the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) will conduct autopsies. The decedents will be identified once appropriate notifications have been made.
