MCP and Family Justice Center Accept Donation of Teddy Bears from Collection Drive by Local Children's Theater

For Immediate Release: Friday, November 23, 2018

The Montgomery County Police Department and Family Justice Center (FJC) will be accepting a donation of over 100 new plush teddy bears that were collected by local professional theater, Adventure Theatre MTC.

WHEN: Monday, November 26, 2018 - 10:30 a.m.

WHERE: The Community Room of the 2nd District Police Station, 4823 Rugby Avenue, Bethesda

WHAT: Donated teddy bears being received by Police Chief Tom Manger, FJC Director Thomas Manion, and Sheriff Darren Popkin from representatives of Adventure Theatre MTC. As well as an opportunity to learn more about the services offered to adults and children at the Family Justice Center.

For the duration of Adventure Theatre MTC's fall world premiere musical production of "Blueberries for Sal," the theater partnered with the Montgomery County Police Department and held a teddy bear drive with a goal to donate them to children dealing with abuse or trauma. Over 100 patrons donated. These bears will be used by the FJC and the police department to help support children going through traumatic events such as domestic violence and severe traffic collisions.

The Family Justice Center, located in Rockville, is a collaboration of public and private county agencies seeking to provide services to families impacted by domestic violence, in a family-friendly environment.

Adventure Theatre MTC is a professional theater company providing theater and musical productions geared primarily toward children. It has a long tradition of partnering to assist local nonprofits.
