Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services Employee Charged with Assault & 4th Degree Sexual Offenses Occurring in an Ambulance

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 1st District Investigative Section have charged Mario Arturo Obando-Rodriguez, age 33, of the 7400 block of Brenish Drive in Gaithersburg, with three counts of a 4th Degree Sexual Offense and one count of 2nd Degree Assault, related to an incident that occurred on July 3, 2018.

On Tuesday, July 3, Obando-Rodriguez allegedly committed these offenses in his capacity as a  Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services (MCFRS) employee while providing treatment to an adult female within a MCFRS ambulance en route to a local hospital.

The investigation by detectives determined that Obando-Rodriguez was providing treatment to an adult female when he allegedly touched the victim inappropriately under the pretense of providing medical treatment.  Obando-Rodriguez then gave his phone number to the victim.

On November 30, Obando-Rodriguez was arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant charging him with one count of a 2nd Degree Assault and three counts of 4th Degree Sexual Offenses.  He was transported to the Central Processing Unit and was released on Friday, November 30, after posting a $5000 bond.

Obando-Rodriguez has been with the Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services since 2013.  At the time of this offense, Obando-Rodriguez was stationed at Fire Station 8 located in Gaithersburg.
