Detectives Investigate Serious Pedestrian Collision in Darnestown

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a serious collision involving a pedestrian that occurred this evening in Darnestown.

On Friday, December 14, at approximately 5:19 p.m., 1st District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Darnestown Road and Ancient Oak Drive for the report of a serious collision involving a pedestrian.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2015 Acura TLX, driven by Adrian Takashi Culp, age 21, of Flameleaf Court in Gaithersburg, was traveling eastbound on Darnestown Road approaching Ancient Oak Drive.  A pedestrian, identified as Nancy Jean Soulen, age 87, of the 15300 block of Quail Run Drive in Darnestown, was crossing Darnestown Road in a southerly direction near Ancient Oak Drive.  For reasons still under investigation, the Acura collided with Soulen near the intersection.

Soulen was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Culp was not injured in the collision.
