Detectives Investigate Armed Carjacking and Shooting in Bel Pre Area

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate an armed carjacking and the shooting of a 27-year-old male that occurred this afternoon in the Bel Pre area.

On Thursday, December 20, at approximately 3:57 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center (911) received multiple calls reporting a robbery and a shooting that had just occurred in the 14200 block of Pear Tree Lane.

Responding officers located two victims on the side of the roadway of Pear Tree Lane; one victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body.  The victims stated that at least two suspects approached them.  At least one of the suspects threatened the victims with a handgun.  During this encounter, one of the victims was shot.  After the shooting, the suspects fled in a black, Hyundai Sonata that belongs to one of the victims.

Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the scene and transported the shooting victim to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation.  Detectives are working to confirm additional details.  Updates will be provided as information is confirmed.
