Detectives Investigate Silver Spring Bank Robbery; Surveillance Photographs of Suspect Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division are investigating a robbery of a Sandy Spring Bank that occurred this morning in Silver Spring.  Detectives are releasing surveillance photographs of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.







On Monday, December 24 at approximately 10:49 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the Sandy Spring Bank located at 8401 Colesville Road for the report of a bank robbery.  The investigation by detectives revealed that the suspect entered the bank and approached a teller.  The suspect displayed an object, stated that it was an explosive device, and demanded money. He obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled from the bank. 







Anyone with information about the suspect or this bank robbery is asked to contact the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100.  To be eligible for a reward, tipsters may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of this suspect.  Tipsters will remain anonymous.
