Detectives Investigate Burglary in Woodfield Area; Surveillance Video of Suspect Released

For Immediate Release: Thursday, January 24, 2019

Detectives from the 5th District are investigating a burglary that occurred at a home located in the 9200 block of Clematis Court on December 11, 2018. Today, the Police Department is releasing video surveillance and a photograph of the burglary suspect and is asking anyone with information about the suspect to contact police.

Investigation has determined that this residential burglary occurred during the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 11.  The homeowners awoke at approximately 5:00 am to find that their garage had been burglarized and that their vehicles had been ransacked.  The suspect stole property from the vehicles to include the female homeowner's purse and its contents (which included credit cards).

Investigators believe that the suspect was able to gain entry to the locked garage by reaching through the dog door and unlocking the door knob.  Pry marks were located on the frame of the door leading from the garage to the home, indicative of the suspect attempting to gain entry to the interior of the home.

The suspect used the victim's stolen credit cards at gas stations, a fast food restaurant, and big-box stores located in Mt. Airy, Ellicott City, Baltimore, Hanover, Catonsville, and Arbutus.  In approximately four hours, the suspect charged over $6,000 worth of merchandise to the victim's credit cards.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this suspect and/or burglary to call them at 240-773-6237. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
