Darnestown Area Death Investigated as Suicide

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating the death of an adult male at a residence in the Darnestown area as a suicide.

On Friday, January 25, at approximately 9:56 a.m., Montgomery County Deputy Sheriffs attempted to serve an eviction notice at a home in the 15200 block of Jones Lane.

Prior to entering the residence, deputies heard what sounded like a single gunshot originating from the inside of the home.  Montgomery County 1st District police officers were called to assist with the incident.

Upon entering the home, deputies and officers located the adult male resident of the home deceased in a bedroom suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.  He was declared deceased at the scene.  His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Baltimore for an autopsy.
