Detectives Investigate Homicide in Bethesda

Detectives with the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have initiated a homicide investigation into a body found yesterday in the 10000 block of Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda.

Yesterday, at around 5:30 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Police Emergency Communications Center (911) received a call reporting a deceased individual behind the bus stop located on the southbound side of Old Georgetown Road in the 10000 block.  The caller described the body as being covered by a tarp or some type of bag.

Officers from the 2nd District as well as Major Crimes Investigators responded to the scene and discovered the body of an unknown age male.  The decedent was transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner for further examination and investigation.  The Medical Examiner has determined the manner of death to be homicide.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division do not believe the homicide occurred at the location where the body was found.  Further details regarding this investigation will be released as more information becomes available.

This homicide is actively being investigated by detectives from the Major Crimes Division.  Detectives urge anyone with information about this incident to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
