Detectives Investigate Armed Robbery of T.J. Maxx Store in Silver Spring; Surveillance Photographs of Suspect Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating the March 5 armed robbery of a T.J. Maxx store in Silver Spring.  Today, investigators are releasing surveillance photographs of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

On Tuesday, March 5 at approximately 1:53 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the T.J. Maxx located inside of the Ellsworth Place shopping mall at 8661 Colesville Road for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

The investigation by detectives revealed that the suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun in his waistband to a cashier, and stated that he would kill her.  The suspect stole cash from one of the registers and placed it in a plastic bag.  As the suspect exited the counter area, he pointed the handgun at a security officer who had just arrived to work at the store.  The suspect fled the store with the stolen cash and merchandise.
