Animal Services Officers Investigate Dog Attack in Fairland Area of Silver Spring; Dog Remains At Large

Montgomery County Department of Police - Animal Services Officers (ASO's) are investigating a dog attack that occurred last night in the Fairland area of Silver Spring.  The dog remains at large.  Officers are asking for the public's help in locating the dog and identifying its owner.

On Monday, March 11 at approximately 7:04 p.m., 3rd District officers and ASO's responded to the 3400 block of Gateshead Manor Way for the report of a dog attack.  The adult female was walking in an apartment complex parking lot when she was attacked by the dog at large.  The victim described the dog as, "large and brown."  The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries which included puncture wounds to her arms and legs.  Officers searched the area of the attack but were unable to locate the dog.

Another person in the area of Hampton Point Drive (approximately .2 miles from Gateshead Manor Way) reported that a tan dog attempted to attack her on March 8.

Animal Services Officers are asking anyone who sees this dog to call the police non-emergency number at 301-279-8000 and do not approach the dog.  Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to call the Animal Services Division at 240-773-5925.
