Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - Major Crimes Division, are investigating a homicide that occurred last night in Germantown.
On April 16, at approximately 9:15 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center (911) received multiple calls for a shooting that had just occurred in the 18700 block of Curry Powder Lane in Germantown.
Responding officers from the 5th District arrived on the scene to find an adult male and a juvenile male suffering from gunshot wounds. They were subsequently transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two additional adult male victims were identified who left the scene in an attempt to get to a local hospital. One of the adult males had non-life threatening injuries of a non-specified nature. The second adult male shooting victim succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators are identifying the deceased victim as Tray Dawkins, age 18, of Germantown.
Preliminary investigation by detectives has determined that the four victims were standing in the parking lot of the 18700 block of Curry Powder Lane when an unknown suspect or suspects began shooting at the group. The suspect or suspects fled the scene prior to the arrival of responding officers. At this time, it is not believed this incident is a random event.
Detectives urge anyone with information regarding the incident or information about the suspect or suspects involved with this incident to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
