Detectives Investigate Firearm Discharge in Parking Lot of Fairland Area 7-Eleven

For Immediate Release: Monday, April 22, 2019

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - 3rd District Patrol Investigations Unit continue to investigate the March 29th discharge of a firearm that occurred in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven convenience store in the Fairland area.  Today, detectives are releasing a surveillance photograph of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.  There were no reported injuries in this event.

On March 29th at approximately 9:27 p.m., The Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a 9-1-1 call reporting that a suspect had fired multiple rounds from a handgun into the passenger side window of a black sedan which had been parked in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven located at 12257 Tech Road.   Responding officers did not locate the sedan in the parking lot but did observe broken glass around an empty parking space.

The investigation by detectives determined that shortly before the shooting occurred, the suspect had entered a nearby hotel and had asked an employee for a coat hanger.  The suspect told the employee that he had locked himself out of his vehicle. The employee stated that the suspect left the hotel without obtaining the coat hanger.

Anyone with information about this discharge of a firearm or the suspect is asked to call the 3rd District Patrol Investigations Unit at 240-773-6800.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this crime.  Tipsters may remain anonymous.
