Suspect Charged for Downtown Silver Spring TD Bank Robbery

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have charged Israel Fuentes, Jr., age 28, of the 2400 block of Fordham Street in Hyattsville, with robbery of a TD Bank in the Central Business District of Silver Spring.

On April 29, at approximately 5:15 p.m., officers from the 3rd District responded to the TD Bank located at 8861 Colesville Road for a robbery that just occurred. The investigation by detectives revealed that the suspect entered the bank, approached the teller, and passed a note demanding money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled the bank.

During the investigation, detectives identified Fuentes, Jr. as the suspect.  On May 1, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Fuentes, Jr. charging him with one count of robbery and one count of theft; $100 to under $1,500.

On May 2, Fuentes Jr. was arrested on the strength of the Montgomery County arrest warrant following a traffic stop in College Park.  He was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he is being held without bond.  MCP investigators are working with detectives from neighboring jurisdictions to determine if Fuentes Jr., may have committed additional bank robberies in other jurisdictions.
