Detectives Investigate Theft at Nail Salon in Downtown Silver Spring; Surveillance Video of Suspects Released

For Immediate Release: Friday, May 10, 2019

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Patrol Investigations Unit continue to investigate the March 25 theft of business proceeds from a nail salon in the Central Business District of Silver Spring.   Today, investigators are releasing surveillance video of the male and female suspect and are asking for the public’s help to identify them.

The investigation by detectives determined that at approximately 9:45 p.m. on March 25, the two suspects were inside the Trendy Nails & Spa salon located in the Ellsworth Place mall located at 8661 Colesville Road when they observed an employee counting the business proceeds for the day.  The employee placed cash and checks inside a bag and then placed that bag in a cabinet under the front desk area of the business.  A review of business surveillance video showed the male suspect observing the employee placing the business proceeds in the bag.  The male suspect can then be seen on video stealing the bag from under the counter while the female suspect blocked the view of any employees.

Anyone with information regarding these suspects is asked to call the 3rd District Patrol Investigations Unit at 240-773-6870. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
