Detectives Investigate Home Invasion Robbery in Aspen Hill

For Immediate Release: Thursday, June 6, 2019

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a home invasion robbery that occurred early yesterday morning in Aspen Hill.  One adult male victim was shot during this home invasion robbery.  One additional victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Detectives do not believe that this home invasion robbery was random in nature.

Yesterday morning (on June 5th) at approximately 1:30 a.m., 4th District officers responded to a residence in the 14200 block of Georgia Avenue for the report of a home invasion robbery that had just occurred.  Additionally, it was reported one person had been shot in the robbery.  Upon arrival, 4th District officers located a 47-year-old male inside the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Officers performed life-saving measures on the victim until Fire and Rescue personnel arrived.  The measures taken by the officers potentially saved the life of this victim.  Officers further located a 19-year-old male inside the home suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.  Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The investigation by detectives determined that shortly after midnight, the 19-year-old victim had parked his vehicle in the Rosemary Hills area of Silver Spring.  After exiting his vehicle, the victim was confronted by four to six suspects, all of whom who were wearing masks and armed with handguns.  The suspects assaulted the victim, forced him back into his vehicle, and demanded that the victim drive them his residence.

Once at the victim’s home, four suspects entered the residence and announced the robbery.  During the robbery, the 47-year-old victim exited a back bedroom and was immediately shot multiple times by one of the suspects.  The suspects stole property from the home and fled.

The only description of the suspects is that they were all black males, all of whom were wearing masks and dark clothing at the time of the robbery.
