One Suspect Charged in Takoma Park Jewelry Store Robbery and Armed Carjacking

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have charged Ever R. Torres-Enriquez, age 23, of the 900 block of Northampton Drive in Silver Spring, with armed robbery and armed carjacking related to the February 16 armed robbery of a jewelry store in Takoma Park.

On February 16, two suspects entered the Silver Spring Jewelry store located at 1137 University Boulevard East in Takoma Park and announced a robbery.   The suspects obtained jewelry and cash from the store.  Immediately after the armed robbery, the suspects confronted two adult males who were in a Toyota Camry parked outside of the jewelry store. The suspects threatened the victims with a weapon and demanded the victim’s car.  The suspects stole the victim’s car and fled the area.

During the investigation, detectives identified Torres-Enriquez as a suspect in this robbery.

On June 14, officers conducted a traffic stop on New Hampshire Avenue near the Capital Beltway (I-495) on a vehicle in which Torres-Enriquez was a passenger.   Torres-Enriquez was arrested and charged with armed robbery and armed carjacking.  Torres-Enriquez is currently being held without bond.

This armed robbery and armed carjacking remains an ongoing investigation.
